77: Kent Maggard, Former Professional Pitcher, Now Motivational Speaker Shares, The Ultimate Life Lesson: How To Bounce Back
Kent Maggard threw a 90+ MPH fastball as a top "baseball player" and was a top professional prospect. The road to the Majors seemed to be destiny. However while in college at Purdue he, in less than 1 inning, mysteriously lost his ability to pitch a baseball for four seasons. Most challenging was that it was all mental, but there was no stopping the issue. During this time Kent worked as a banker and found that he had a liking for it. Even after his pitching ability returned and he played for the St. Louis Cardinals Kent found that he still had a future in banking. During the 1990 lockout he was cut from the team and returned to the bank. Kent is now President and CEO of Maggard Business Advisers, Inc. He is also a motivational speaker, providing valuable lessons on teamwork and leadership. His Main message is from Jimmy Valvano: "Never, Ever, Ever Give Up!"
